At night

At night.

Cold breezes,

Dewey feet,

The silver crust of the moon swells and shrinks,

As the tiny dazzling stars dance on a beat.

At night,

When my mind is alive,

When every single thing comes to life.

Just then,

Thoughts of you crawl into my head.

I remember you as wind remembers the soul it touches.

When we held our hands,

As we lie in the grass.

When we wondered over the sun, the moon and the stars.

When we knew our eyes have not seen such a mesmerizing view.

When we talked about our favourite band,

And we used to sing our favourite songs.

All this is now as irrational and surreal as a dream.

Now at night,

I still sing those songs in a cracked voice.

Those lyrics make the most sense,

And make the feelings more intense.

Nighttime is haunting now,

And I hit my head in my pillow.

Eyes tight shut and trying to sleep,

But sleep doesn’t help when the soul is the one that’s tired.

Visiting old memories

I ventured a journey on the highway of my past,

To pay a visit to all the good times.

I’m searching for good old memories,

And dreams of long ago.

I’m searching for the good old time,

Of happy, laughing and sunny days.

Now lost in dark,

where light once used to glow.

I’m searching for the old you,

When you would sing for me,

Which now have just become memories.

A bittersweet illusion,

Tantalizing my heart,

My thoughts are now tangling,

And are giving me no rewards.

Reverberations of you reside in me,

And make my heartache all the time.

I just don’t want to remember old memories anymore,

Because they are hurting me instead.

Beneath the water

Beneath the water,

Blue and cool.

Silence, That’s the first thing you can hear.

Everything is so clear, so close.

Sunlight comes,

Illuminating the dark.

Shining through the depths until it reaches my heart.

For years I have searched for a calm place,

To lose a burden from my shoulders.

Now finally I have found it beneath the water.

Being underwater is the answer to all your fears,

To save yourself from the supply of tears.

There’s something about the coldness and stillness of the water.

It’s like putting your life on hold,

Getting rid of all your sorrows.

It’s like escaping the world for finding peace,

For letting the soul be free.

Every person needs a place where they can go,

To find themselves or someone else.

To see the world chaos-free.

Getting lost in a book

When you open a book,

The pages turn,

There is a melancholy in the sight and the smell.

The sight is like a mysterious world.

The smell is like rain to come.

To get lost in a book is simply to find yourself in a world yet to be discovered,

Visiting a place you’ve never been to before.

It’s like with the characters, you unfold the wonders.

You laugh, you scream, you live in it with them.

It’s like sleeping peacefully,

Not a single dream to interrupt you in your slumber.

It’s like laying in the grass,

Hearing soothing chirping of birds, humming of cicada,

Smelling flowers,

Hearing flowing streams.

Everything soothes your heart and mind.

The best part is,

You can be what your heart seeks.

When the story ends,

You came back to real life.

But the heart still craves,

To be that lost person again.

Broken Wings

As I flapped my wings,

To fly in the endless sky,

I realised I couldn’t.

I was distressed,

Then looked behind and saw my broken wings.

It was a dark place and I wanted to escape.

I passed a strangled scream,

As I was throttled by spider webs of memories.

My hands were tied by manacles.

Deep down in my heart,

I thought the end was near.

My eyes were speaking the same.

I was looking for hope,

Out of the blue,

I asked myself,

“How can I fly when I am afraid to fall?”

I kept my fear aloof,

And flapped my wings again.

It pained.

But I was able to fly again.

And I looked down,

Thinking of never coming back.

Cause now the past is in the past.

I stood on the cliff ….

I stood on the cliff,
Broken and in fear,
Demons of darkness,
Have driven me here.
Behind these eyes that carry a shine,
Lies a thousand words that can’t be described.
Behind this face that carries a smile,
Lies a dark road that goes on for miles and miles.
It’s like being surrounded by everyone and yet being lonely,
A burden on my shoulders that lies with me only.
It’s like a self hate I can’t explain,
I am walking in the dark, holding so much pain.
And so I live along, I play my part,
While this loneliness breaks my heart.
Again I stood on the cliff,
About to end the fight,
Then I stopped and thought,
I’ll fight them one more night.
I know this fight is big and my shoulders are thin,
But I believe firmly that I will win.

Just like stars in the sky….

I look up in the sky,

A resting place for countless stars,

Gleaming brightly.

Hastily I remembered your face,

Which dazzle just like them.

I vacillate,

As I dive into stroke clouded memories of our past.

When we saw love all around,

When we used to hold hope,

When we were together in our highs and our lows,

When we knew the best place where we could dance in endless nights,

When I was under spell asking myself “What have you done?”,

When I thought finally I have a world of my own.

Now it’s just irrational and surreal as a dream.

Which fades away like a bubble when I wake up from sleep.

Let us go

Let us go through the desert streets,

In the muttering retreats.

Through the canal that leads us to a place,

Holding hand in hand we walk into a picture,

Where we see nothing but each other’s face.

Where the sky meets blue and the land meets green in a mixture.

The sun began to set, it feels like we have just met.

Surprisingly, I know you from a while,

But just a thought of you makes me smile.

We talked about days, we talked about nights.

We saw the dawn, we saw the twilight.

Let’s walk through this a little more,

Until we reach a melodious shore.
